Audiology services and pricing

When you visit our clinic, the fees we charge will vary based on whether you are a Private client, a member of the Department of Veteran Affairs, or eligible for the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (HSP).

If you are a DVA or Australian Government Pension card holder, you may be entitled to fully subsidised appointment costs and hearing aids. Please speak to us if you think this applies to you. Fully subsidised appointments are only availalbe in-clinic.

How billing works at our clinic for Private clients

Clients enrolled in an Aftercare Plan will not occur any charges for hearing aid-related appointments, hearing monitoring, along with any maintenance costs, for any in-clinic or home visit booked appointments. For more information on Aftercare Plans, please see our "Aftercare Plans" page.

Aftercare Plans are available for Private clients who have purchased hearing aids from our clinic.

For clients not enrolled in an Aftercare Plan our standard billing rates apply, including:

Clients outside of the 4-month post purchase period, who have opted not to purchase a plan
All in-coming Private clients who have never been seen by us before
Clients who have purchased hearing aids from other hearing clinics and wish to be seen by us

All home visit appointments are billed at our standard billing rate + $50 per home visit, unless under an Aftercare Plan in which case there is no charges.

Hearing Assessments

For clients aware of a hearing loss and wishing to get hearing aids.

For clients requiring an audiological report for their treating specialist or GP.

*When requested, a medical report will be provided for all hearing assessments at no additional cost.

Hearing Aid Aftercare, Repair and Support

For clients who currently use hearing aids and wish to have on-going support performed by our clinic.

If you are a new client with exsisting hearing aids and wish to be seen by our clinic for the first time, please book "first time visit with exsisting hearing aids".

*Clients enrolled in an Aftercare Plan do not incur any charges for these appointment types.

Basic hearing aid maintenance $30

Ear impression + (ear mould cost) $50

Loan hearing aids (Tribe level) $40 p/w

Ear Wax Removal Service

A medical referral is not required for wax removal. If a medical report is required, a $35 fee applies.

If a follow-up removal appointment is required to removal all of the ear wax, no further charges apply.

Free Hearing Checkup and Device Discussions

For clients uncertain about their need for hearing aids or who simply wish to have a friendly chat about their hearing. During these appointments, we will evaluate your hearing, and if requested, explore hearing aid options. We can also clarify funding options available to you. Rest assured, you will not receive any marketing calls following these appointments.

Yearly Review Appointments

For clients already using hearing aids who require yearly monitoring of hearing and hearing aid maintenance and care.

Following industry standards, we highly recommend people using hearing aids utilise this service atleast once a year to ensure optimal performance of hearing aids.

Hearing Aid Parts

For clients who require parts and supplies for on-going hearing aid use. We do not charge for these appointments.

*Clients enrolled in an Aftercare Plan do not incur any charges for repairs, parts or supplies.

Parts and supplies can be provided through either booking an appointment at our clinic, posting to you (postage and processing fee applies). Alternatively, supplies can be topped up during home visit appointments.

We stock supplies for most major hearing aid manufacturers, not just our own, including:

Ear mould replacements
Hearing aid batteries
Retention locks
Ear domes
Hearing aid filters
Hearing aid receivers/speakers
Drying caps

Warranty Repair Procedures

All hearing aids sold by us include a 3-year manufacturer warranty.

For information on warranty repairs for hearing aids purchased elsewhere, or hearing aids under the Hearing Services Program, please see below.

Hearing aids purchased from us that need to be sent back to the manufacturer for repair are free of any charges.

Hearing aids under the Hearing Services Program are also free from any charges related to warranty repair, as long as they are still within the warranty period.

Hearing aids purchased from other clinics occur a $45 processing fee.

Please be aware that we will make every effort to facilitate free repairs for hearing aids purchased from other clinics, however, it is important to understand that Southern Hearing Excellent is not ultimately responsible for this process - responsibility lies with the manufacturer or the business from which the hearing aids were originally purchased.
